I love these butterflies made out of maps. Real butterflies in a glass frames are freaky. But ones made out of maps are not only cruelty-free but can also be little trophies of your travels.
These are €150 a pop! I could definitely make them myself for a fraction of the price.

I love this cut-out Paris map from Famille Summerbelle. It's been featured on various blogs this week and seeing it so often makes me crave it even more.

Paris is one of my favorite cities in the world and means so much to me, because it was where my dad took me on my first 'real' grownup holiday - just him and me when I was 16.

I went to hot yoga last night and l-o-v-e-d it!! It was by far my best yoga practice hands down. You're in a room that's heated around 40 degrees Celsius, which increases your flexibility and also makes you sweat buckets! It's very challenging and totally different from the usual Ashtanga yoga I've been doing. It is an amazing workout and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who needs a challenge!

As soon as the weather starts heating up, I've got to paint my toe nails. I can't help it, my toes have to be primped and painted for me to wear sandals out on the town.

For the past few days, we've gotten gorgeous 20-30 degree (Celsius, of course!) weather, perfect time for a pedicure. I usually go for reds but ever since I saw Kate Winslet at the Golden Globes, I've been coveting silvery white nail polish. I bought Sally Hansen's Lights on Broadway and I think I'm in love. I can't stop staring at my toes and I feel like showing everyone my pedicure!

I'm loving these Lizzie Fortunato necklaces. They have a great arts and craft look to them. They're quite girly and sweet while at the same time look extravagant and glitzy.

I love the idea of framing your TV. It's very different, and people usually hide their television sets because they don't want to see a big black box. Celebrate your TV and frame it. The bigger and more ornate the frame, the better!

I keep all my jewlery in bowls and everything always gets tangled up and I don't know what I have anymore. I love this idea of using frames to organize your jewlery. Jewlery is beautiful, so why not frame it?

I never had a doll house as a kid (Barbie doesn't count!) and maybe that's why I'm oddly attracted to this picture.

I remember when I was 11 or 12 and my family went on vacation, there was a store that only sold miniature objects and handmade doll houses that were simply gorgeous. The houses were all in Victorian style with tiny details: lace trimmed table cloths, individual wooden shingles on the roof, framed pictures to hang inside the house, and shrubbery to plant outside. I was enthralled. I think it's the amount of care in the details and the precision of putting a house together that appeal to me so much, and when I found this picture I just had to post it. Enjoy!

I keep hearing about Grey Gardens and seeing Drew Barrymore and Jessica Lange on TV and in newspapers. Unfortunately, I don't have HBO and won't be able to watch the movie until it comes out on dvd (sigh).

It's a movie about the lives of Big and Little Edie Beale, who lived in squalor in their Long Island home. They were the aunt and first cousin of Jackie O.

The costumes for this movie seem incredible: extravagant, beautifully rich and eccentric. Even though the women lived in terrible conditions, they were very creative and inventive in their wardrobe. WWW did a Currently Channeling post about Grey Gardens and I love every single piece in it!

I just ordered this bad boy from Etsy.

I first saw Necklushes last Fall and immediately fell in love with them. I've had them in mind ever since but it's not until I saw this Fifi Lapin post that I decided I had waited long enough and got my own!
I love that they're half-jewlery and half-scarf; plus, you can style it differently to make it your own, just twist and teak it to suit your fancy.

I can't wait for it to arrive on my doorstep!

Still in the middle of painting and a big ol' messy house. I'll have to continue painting next weekend.
I always love looking at names of paint colours, lipstick and eyeshadow colours. Every time I go into a makeup store I'm always lifting tubes and pots to take a peek at the shade name.
The new paint colour for the trim and baseboards in my home makes me smile whenever I see it: Snow White. It was my favorite Disney movie as a kid, so it's funny to have that colour in my home now.

On a somewhat related note, I love the photoshoot Annie Leibovitz did a few years ago with celebrities recreating Disney characters. I think Rachel Weisz is a great Snow White!

Sorry for the little hiatus, I went on a last minute trip to Boston with some friends. It felt great to get away, even if ithe weather was crappy for my entire stay there. Boston is such a great city, with a cool mix of historical and modern elements. I loved it!

My favorite parts were shopping on Newbury and Boylston streets in Boston, and Mass ave in Cambridge, doing a MIT campus tour where my sister is going to grad school in the fall, walking through Harvard and wishing I still went to school! Another highlight, which I think is definitely a must see, is the Holocaust Memorial; it's a very intense, powerful and moving experience. I loved following the Freedom Trail, strolling along the Charles River, Boston Common, Quincy Market. It's such a great walking city, and also a runners' city because I don't think I've ever seen as many runners as I did in 4 days!

I had a delicious meal at the East Coast Grill and Raw Bar in Cambridge! The place was loud and lively, the people were nice and the food was amazing! I highly recommend it.

I love musicals. If only you could break out into song and dance in real life, I'd be one happy camper! But til the day that happens, I'll settle for watching them and one of my favorites, hands down, is West Side Story. If you haven't seen this musical yet, go see it right now! It's an adaptation of Romeo & Juliet, with great music and dancing; even if it was made in the 60s, i think it's still very relevant today.

I'm was so excited to hear that they opened a new stage version of West Side Story on Broadway, which incorporates more Spanish elements. And fingers crossed, I'll go see it this summer!

The only downside to following blogs is that inspiration often strikes me though I don't necessarily have the guts to follow through. I find myself wanting to be more daring in my fashion, interior decorating, makeup and life choices but I'm lacking the push and don't quite know where to start. So here are the pictures that have got me thinking today:

I'd like to wear more skirts (all I seem to be wearing these days are ratty jeans and my yoga gear) and pull off geek-chic when I wear my own glasses. I also love the dusty professor look this girl has going on!

Winter in Canada is a whole different story. I end up wearing a winter coat a good 5 or 6 months out of the year. Next year, I'll get a brightly coloured coat like the one Sandra from Niotillfem is wearing here. Winter can get pretty dreary so might as well stand out, right?

This coat is fabulous! I love the bow and the drop waist. It'd be great for a Canadian winter, except that it looks sleeveless...
Plus, I'd love to learn how to (convincingly) walk in high heels. And the blue on those bad boys is a great pop of colour.

Each time I look at the Before & After feature on Design*Sponge I want to be a DIY goddess! I'd like to make my own bright chalkboard frame out of a thrift store find, but I never seem to have much success at the thrift stores in my area. I'll keep trying though!

I'm still waiting for the latest Lula magazine to arrive at my local bookshop, but until then, I'll bid my time with N.E.E.T's March issue.

I especially love their DIY beauty solutions; apple cider toner or avocado mask, sounds kinda gross but I'm itching to try it. I'm a huge beauty junkie: drugstores and sephoras are my kryptonite, so at least I won't have to spend money to try out these tips.

Also, check out the lovely "Birdy & Me" spread, the illustrations are soft, muted and have an ethereal feel to them. Love it!

I just found, tucked away in a book, a postcard that my dad sent me when he was away on a business trip; I was maybe 4 or 5 years old at the time.

I love sending and receiving postcards or handwritten letters. To me, someone's handwriting is a little piece of them. I have all of the postcards I've received through the years in a stack bound with a ribbon.

The only downside to getting postcards though is that I now have the itch to travel... but absolutely no money for a trip.

I just saw this look on Garance Doré and I can't stop staring at it trying to soak up all the details. I love the nautical stripes peeking past the coat sleeves, not to mention that the cuffs and hem of the coat are just sublime. Add the red scarf and highlighter yellow dress and it's a look I'd where anytime.
I love looking at the outfits 'real' people come up with, on streetstyle blogs or when walking on the street. People-watching when taking the subway is another favorite. It's a little voyeuristic, and I get very self-conscious when people do the same to me, but I just can't help it: I love living vicariously through other people's clothing.
